The Social Assistance in the New Economy (SANE) is a research program funded by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council. The research program comprises a number of complementary research projects which are investigating: the welfare and post-welfare experiences of social assistance recipients; the economic circumstances of people leaving social assistance; the functioning of employment programs in a decentralised policy context; and the changing regulatory and legal frameworks of social assistance.
