Seong-gee Um , Research Assistant

Seong-gee is a third year PhD student at the Faculty of Social Work, University of Toronto. Since she started her doctoral program in 2006, she has participated in research projects on various policy issues in Canada and South Korea. As a research assistant in the SANE project, she has worked on the issues around social assistance policy and practices and the impact of Ontario Works on social assistance recipients. Seong-gee's main research interests broadly include welfare policies and programs for low-income families and comparative social policy between the Western and the East-Asian welfare states.
