Social Work and Aging
The most recent population projections indicate that the number of children aged less than 15 years will be outnumbered by the number of older adults aged 65 and over in less than10 years. Social workers are important agents in assisting older people and their families to meet the challenges of an aging society through direct practice, policy and research. As crucial members of interdisciplinary teams and as architects of social policy, social workers trained in gerontology and geriatrics will be prepared to help our communities and families respond to the demographic imperative.
