MJ is a first year Ph.D student at the Factor-Inwentash Faculty of Social Work. Her areas of interest include: trauma, memory and knowledge production; mental health and racialized communities; arts-based participatory research methodologies; arts and social justice; imaging/imagining/constructing Africa(ns); queerness and African diasporas, and queer theory.
Prior to entering the PhD program, MJ has over ten years of experience in the mental health, immigrant-serving and youth serving sectors - as an equity and diversity educator, mental health counselor and community development worker.
