Marjorie Johnstone , Ph.D student (Faculty of Social Work, Toronto), MSW (University of Toronto), M.Ed. (University of Ottawa), BSW(University of Carleton, Ottawa), BA(University of Otago, New Zealand).
Marjorie is in her second year of the Ph.D program after many years of practice in a variety of settings, predominantly those linked with child and adult mental health services. She has worked in the community and in hospitals including several years on a forensic psychiatric ward. Research interests include the history and philosophy of social work, narrative and postmodern practice, Foucault and social work, women’s issues, poverty and social justice. Marjorie is currently involved in historical archival research using the records from the Child Development Institute, which began in 1909.
