Jami-Leigh Sawyer

Jami-Leigh Sawyer is a third year doctoral student in the Factor-Inwentash Faculty of Social Work and Collaborative Graduate Program in Bioethics. She received her Master’s of Social Work degree from the University of Toronto, specializing in Health and Mental Health. She also has a Bachelor of Social Work from McMaster University, and a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Psychology from McMaster University.
Jami-Leigh works as a clinical social worker in pediatric healthcare, and has extensive experience working with children, families and groups in both inpatient and outpatient hospital settings. She also works as a group facilitator in the community, providing psycho-educational and support groups for parents of children who have experienced sexual abuse.
Jami-Leigh has extensive research experience, and is involved as a Research Coordinator and Research Assistant in multiple research projects at the Factor-Inwentash Faculty of Social Work. Jami-Leigh has co-authored multiple publications in peer-reviewed journals focusing on childhood bullying and healthcare, and most recently co-authored a book chapter examining clinical approaches to addressing trauma. Jami-Leigh’s doctoral research focuses on cyber bullying among children with cancer.
