David Delay is a student in the FIFSW doctoral program.
His doctoral research project will examine engagement and attrition in group intervention practices with men who have used violence in their intimate relationships with women. Currently, he is a co-investigator on a CIHR-funded multi-year, multi-disciplinary research project examining traumatic brain injury and violence. He continues his work as a research assistant on another project which uses a critical cultural perspective in the development of analysis of archival material related to early social work practices in a Toronto child care setting.
David’s social work practice has included frontline and supervisory experience in child welfare, children’s mental health, adult counseling services, and supervisory consultation for a hospice service. His group work practice has included work with men, women and children, voluntary and involuntary clients and in groups dedicated to community development, governance and consultation, treatment, and social- recreation. His previous teaching experiences have included field practicum instruction, social service work and social work courses related to interviewing, social work practice theory, and community-based social work practice. His most recent community service includes work with Catholic Charities and the FIFSW-PhD Committee.
