Rory Crath
, Ph.D. Student (Faculty of Social Work, University of Toronto).
Rory Crath is a second year PhD student. His research interests split into two distinct areas: health based research which focuses on queer and trans men’s sexual and mental health needs and on the development of community health care practices in countries of the South; and arts based research which explores how social work practioners and community agencies negotiate and articulate issues of space, racialised difference and self determination of “the client” both historically and within current contexts. Rory has 15 years of community and arts based experience working with street-involved youth and second-generation and immigrant youth and young adults, labeled “at risk” and living in racialised areas of Toronto and Los Angeles. He is currently working with Jamaican partners on a three year, multi-phased community based health related research project in Kingston, Jamaica, and with Dr Brennan (Faculty SW) on research projects related to queer men’s health.
