Andrea Litvack is Director of the M.S.W. Program. Her past administrative roles at the Faculty of Social Work have included Acting Associate Dean, M.S.W. Curriculum Director and Associate Director of Field Education. She teaches social work practice and family mediation.
Professor Litvack is interested in all aspects of social work education. She has developed numerous workshops and presentations relating to the enhancement of student learning in the field, and has presented on this topic and others nationally and internationally. She is the author of a teaching DVD/ Videotape entitled “Critical issues in field instruction: Developing field instructor competence” that is used internationally by schools of social work and other educational programs. This resource includes vignettes that address issues relating to the integration of theory and practice, the use and misuse of power in the supervisory relationship, conflict management, diversity, and student’s perception’s of their field experiences.
Professor Litvack's clinical work focuses on issues relating to separation and divorce. She works with couples, families and children experiencing this life transition and has presented internationally on this topic. She is the author of a best practice guide on working with families experiencing high conflict separation and divorce.
