Susan Blacker

Susan Blacker is the Director of Cancer Services Planning and Performance at St. Michael’s Hospital. She has previously held the positions of Professional Practice Leader for Social Work and interim Director of Professional Practice, also at St. Michael’s Hospital.
Susan’s clinical experience includes practicing at Lakeridge Health - Oshawa in the Oncology and Surgical Programs. From 1998-2002, she was at the Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore as a Senior Social Worker in the Department of Oncology Social Work. She was also the Director of the Continuing Education Program in Psychosocial Cancer Care and the Coordinator of the Living with Cancer Resource Program. She has a particular interest in topics related to psychosocial oncology, palliative care and interdisciplinary practice and has published and presented in a number of national and international forums on these topics. She co-edited a special series highlighting social work’s contributions to the field of palliative care in the Journal of Palliative Medicine in and was co-chair of the Social Work Summits on End-of-Life and Palliative Care in 2002 and 2005.
