Cybercounselling - Level II is a three-module course designed for counselling practitioners who have completed Cybercounselling Level 1 and want to deepen and refine their cybercounselling expertise. Upon competion of Level II, participants are issued certificates provided jointly by the University of Toronto, Factor-Inwentash Faculty of Social Work and Therapy Online. Participants will improve their online counselling skills and professionalism. The course is highly interactive and personal with a low student/teacher ratio. Online group and dyadic processes are used so that the entire course is a forum to practise text-based communication skills. Participants from around the world will study and discuss assigned readings, learn about and use secure e-mail technolgy, practise a diverse range of therapeutic communication skills and tools, engage in role-play, and receive clinical feedback. This level emphasizes practical application of cybercounselling skills and techniques for effective intervention. It includes marketing sessions to address the needs of individuals keen to begin their own online practice but unfamiliar with some of the business issues associated with such an endeavour. Prerequisite: Completion of Level 1 Please note that registration should be made directly through www.cybercounselling.com and not through the Faculty of Social Work. Lawrence Murphy, MA. Lawrence is the co-Founder of Worldwide Therapy Online Inc. (www.therapyonline.ca). He holds an MA in Counselling Psychology from the University of British Columbia and has been a therapist for the past 20 years. Lawrence has authored a number of publications in the field of Cybercounselling and has provided training to individual therapists and counselling agencies on doing therapy online. Dan Mitchell, MA, CCC. Dan is the co-founder of Worldwide Therapy Online Inc. (www.therapyonline.ca). He holds a Master’s Degree in Counselling Psychology from the University of British Columbia and has served as a Canadian Certified Counsellor with BC Addictions Services for 21 years. Since 1994, Dan has pioneered the field of Cybercounselling and has authored several professional publications on the subject. Mary MacDougall, MSW, RSW. Mary is a past Executive Director of an accredited family service agency in British Columbia. A graduate of Smith College School for Social Work, Mary has many years of social work experience in Ontario, British Columbia and the USA. Mary was a recipient of the Queen’s Jubilee Medal for her work with Family Service organizations. She is a certified Cybercounsellor with Therapy Online. Paul Parnass, MSW, RSW. Paul is a highly experienced therapist in private practice that specializes in Cybercounselling. He holds an MSW from the University of Toronto and has been working in the counselling field now for 33 years. Paul has delivered workshops and presentations on numerous topics in the mental health and EAP field and is a certified Cybercounsellor with Therapy Online. |
