This workshop was designed to familiarize the participants with neurobiology theories that draw from contemporary attachment theory, neuroscience, child development theory and trauma theory. Essential mechanisms of brain functions were discussed. The lecture focused on how clinical work is shaped when utilizing these concepts in practice.

Dennis Miehls, M.S.W., Ph.D., is an Associate Professor at Smith College School for Social Work. He is the Chair of the Human Behavior Sequence and teaches in both the Masters and Doctoral Programs at Smith. Dr. Miehls is a graduate of Wilfrid Laurier University (M.S.W.) and Smith College (Ph.D.). In addition to teaching, Dr. Miehls has a private clinical practice in Northampton, MA., specializing in long term treatment for individuals and couples.
