April 27, 2012: Ten and Counting...
Our students are always telling us how much they learn from working with their field instructors. We are enormously grateful to all the amazing field instructors who devote so much time and energy to our students. This Hart House event is for field instructors who have contributed to the Faculty by supervising 10 or more students. Featuring workshops on subjects like using the OSCE Tool to evaluate social work students and how cyber technology affects traditional counselling, it’s our way of saying just how much we appreciate what you do.
May 25, 2011: Spring Reunion: Alumni Association AGM and Book Expo
During this year’s Spring Reunion, immerse yourself in the innovative research of our award-winning faculty and professors emeriti by attending the Alumni Association AGM and Book Expo. Professor Emeritus Howard Irving, faculty members Ramona Alaggia, Marion Bogo, Cheryl Regehr and Tat Tsang and research associate Ivan Brown will be discussing their recent books, while alumni highlight leading social work practices in poster presentations – all followed by wine and cheese. It promises to be a lively occasion.
June 2 & 10, 2011: It's Convocation Time
Spring convocation ceremonies for MSW students begin at 10 am on Thursday, June 2nd, followed by a celebratory lunch for graduates, family and friends at the Faculty Club, co-sponsored by the Alumni Association and the Faculty. Convocation ceremonies for PhD students start at 2:30 pm on Friday, June 10th. Congratulations. We’re proud of you.
June 7 & 8, 2011: 6th Critical Multicultural Counselling & Psychotherapy Conference
Researchers and community practitioners address key multicultural and diversity issues at this annual conference put on by OISE/UT’s Centre for Diversity in Counselling and Psychotherapy. Now in its 6th year, the conference has become the interdisciplinary centre’s flagship event, attracting scholars from major Canadian universities as well as from America, UK and India. Sponsored by OISE/UT’s Counselling Psychology, Across Boundaries (an ethnoracial Mental Health Centre) and the Factor-Inwentash Faculty of Social Work.
Nov 4, 2011 An Introduction to Neurobiology and Clinical Social Work
Co-sponsored by the Factor-Inwentash Chair in Children’s Mental Health, associate professor Ramona Alaggia, and the Margaret and Wallace McCain Family Chair in Child and Family, professor and dean Faye Mishna, this November 4th workshop with Dr. Dennis Miehls, associate professor at Smith College School for Social Work, aims to familiarize participants with the latest theories in neurobiology, focusing on implications for clinical practice.
